Hi Girlies!

Before I talk about the four hobbies that are more like therapy, I want to state that if you’re in need of therapy please go, as there is no substitute for speaking to a therapist.

Now let’s get into the four hobbies!

Coloring

Coloring can be so therapeutic. It’s something I did as a child to pass the time or when I was bored. Now, as an adult, I do it when life is starting to get a little stressful. I enjoy picking out the book, the page, and the colors.

I color with either crayons, markers, or coloring pencils. Sometimes I use crayons and color pencils or markers and color pencils. It just depends on how I’m feeling and the picture that I am coloring.

I get my coloring books from Five Below, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar. They cost anywhere from $1-$5. I get my crayons, markers, and coloring pencils from Walmart, Amazon, and Five Below.

Video Games

When it comes to video games, I am talking about cozy video games. Now don’t get me wrong, shooting games can be therapeutic from what my husband tells me. I like cozy video games because you don’t have to do a lot of thinking to play them. When I want to relax and do something that’s fun and relaxing, I stick to cozy video games.

When it comes to playing video games, I mostly play on my laptop or my Switch. On my Switch I have two physical games and one digital game. On my laptop I have two games. On my Switch I have Hello Kitty Island Adventure and Bear & Breakfast. On my laptop I have The Sims 4 and Stardew Valley.

The key to making cozy video games therapeutic, in my opinion, is the setup. I have a setup for when I am playing my Switch and another setup for when I am playing on my laptop. My setups are not out of this world, but they are what I need to feel cozy and relaxed.

Reading

I just love picking up a book and reading it as I sip some tea. The best part is that I can get lost in a book like it’s a movie. Although I love a good self-help book, I am not talking about that. I am talking about a good romance book with a twist or a fantasy book. I tried to read horror books, but that was a little to much for me.

When it comes to getting books, I like to get mine from Amazon, Little Free Library, the author directly, Dollar Tree (sometimes), and book stores. The most I have paid for a book so far is $20 and the least I have paid is $0.

One of my favorite books that I have ever read that made me cry and cheer at the same time is The Icing Ain’t Always Sweet At The Top by Mz Skittlez. This book will always be at the top of my must-read book list.

Listening to Music

I just love listening to some smooth jazz as I am taking a bath and some r&b while I am cleaning up. When I am working, I am either listening to someone play the saxophone or r&b.

Listening to this type of music always puts me at ease and just makes everything better. I do like other types of music and I listen to them when I’m not in need of something therapeutic. If you want to know what kind of music I listen to when I’m not in need of something therapeutic, let me know.

Now back to saxophones and r&b.

When it comes to saxophones, I switch between two people: Ashley Keiko and Nathan Allen Sax. As for r&b I like to listen to 90s r&b mixed in with some new stuff. I just love me some black love music.
